DURHAM, Ore. (AP) – The leader of Oregon’s troubled health insurance exchange says thousands of Oregonians who sent in their applications by the deadline may have to go elsewhere for temporary coverage – despite the state’s promises. The exchange’s online portal hasn’t enrolled anybody, and the state relies exclusively on paper applications. The acting head of Cover Oregon, said today that 65,000 people sent in paper applications by Dec. 4. Of those, about 37,000 have not been processed.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State University reopens today for finals week after a snowstorm closed the school over the weekend and disrupted the finals schedule. The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports that instead of taking tests, groups of students gathered yesterday in few open places to get in some last-minute studying. The changes could affect around half the 24,000 students on campus.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Two people are reported dead and one inured after a collision between a train and a passenger car south of Klamath Falls. The Herald and News reports that the car landed on its top after the collision today in the community of Midland, and one passenger was able to walk across U.S. Highway 97 to a nearby store for help.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Warming shelters in Eugene have seen more than 300 people a night during the recent cold snap. Shelters open when lows drop below 30 and The Register-Guard reports the Egan Warming Centers are expected to remain open for an eighth night.
