Minor League Baseball Starts Anew

The 2014 Northwest League Single-A Short Season gets underway today in Spokane for the Eugene Emeralds. The five game series runs through Tuesday and the Ems will return to Eugene for their home opener at PK Park Wednesday against the Boise Hawks.

Eugene ended the 2013 season in the Northwest League cellar with a 27-and-49 record.

NCAA Track and Field Finals

Boise State junior Emma Bates won the women’s ten-thousand meters last night in the NCAA track and field championships at Hayward Field in Eugene. Her time was 32-minutes, 32.35 seconds; the second fastest time in the history of the meet.

The race capped the second day of the three-day championships on the University of Oregon campus.
