MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police are looking for a man who was armed with a sawed-off shotgun when he robbed a bank in Medford. They say he may have robbed another bank last December. Police say the robber entered the American West Bank branch five minutes before closing time yesterday when no other customers were present, menaced employees with the gun and demanded money. No one was injured.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon Senate committee is expected to vote this morning on a proposal requiring background checks on all private firearms sales. Opponents have said background checks are ineffective, difficult to enforce and overly burdensome for law-abiding citizens. Supporters say the measure would make it more difficult for people prohibited from using a firearm get their hands on one.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland say a stolen trailer containing medical and dental equipment that a nonprofit organization uses to treat people in need has been found. Sgt. Pete Simpson says the officers acting on a tip found it abandoned yesterday in southeast Portland. The trailer disappeared from the employee parking lot of Portland Adventist Medical Center.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Chris Paul had a season-high 41 points and 17 assists and the Los Angeles Clippers rallied in the second half for a 126-122 victory over the Trail Blazers last night. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Blazers, who needed a win to secure their first division title since the 2008-09 season when they shared it with Denver.
