CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. (AP) – Fire officials say a wildfire in southwest Oregon had grown, fanned by high winds and terrain. The so-called Buckskin fire was estimated at nearly 2 square miles, or about 1,200 acres as of yesterday morning. It’s blazing in an area that burned during 13 years ago in a major fire known as the Biscuit Fire. The fire is in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest about 10 miles south of the town Cave Junction.

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) – Junction City’s police chief has sued the city and the former city administrator in federal court, alleging his rights were violated. The Register-Guard reports that Mark Chase filed the $300,000 lawsuit in federal court in Eugene. The lawsuit claims that former City Administrator Melissa Bowers discriminated against him due to his Christian beliefs. Bowers could not be reached for comment.

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – Less than 1 percent of registered sex offenders living in Oregon are listed on a public website because of a state law that limits which offenders can be named on the Internet. The Coos Bay World reports that to be included in the online registry, the person must be a predatory sex offender who is rated high risk. Authorities also have to have publicly notified the community the offenders live in before releasing them from supervision.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Salem Police Department says a 16-year-old skateboarder is in critical condition after he went through a red light and collided with an SUV in an intersection. Police say Joseph Viellette was in critical condition yesterday afternoon. Police say there were no citations or arrests.
