MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Robinson Cano had three home runs and seven RBIs to help the Seattle Mariners outlast the Chicago Cubs 12-9 Sunday in a game that was delayed for several minutes by a swarm of bees in center field. Cano had a two-run and a three-run homer off Cubs starter Jason Hammel, who allowed nine runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. Cano added a two-run shot off Trevor Cahill in the eighth and finished 4 for 4.

MESA, Ariz. (AP) — As usual, star Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward made the smart play. He climbed the fence in center — to avoid a swarm of bees. The game between the Seattle Mariners and Chicago was delayed for several minutes in the top of the third inning Sunday when the bees gathered in center field.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kelsey Plum scored 26 points and Chantel Osahor had 24 points and 18 rebounds Sunday as Washington defeated Stanford 85-76 in the NCAA Lexington Regional final to earn its first women’s basketball Final Four appearance. The seventh-seeded Huskies scored the game’s first 12 points and stayed ahead the rest of the way. Washington (26-10) will play either Syracuse or Tennessee in an NCAA semifinal April 3 in Indianapolis.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — A Nikolai home that is used as a checkpoint for dog races has burned down. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (http://bit.ly/1q9o9pa ) that the home, which is a checkpoint for both the Iron Dog and Iditarod, caught fire Tuesday morning. Nikolai city mayor Tamara Roberts says no one was hurt In the fire, though the owner was home when the blaze began. A neighbor first spotted the smoke and was able to pull the owner from the house. It is unclear what caused the fire.
