Taggert expected to switch from the Bulls to the Ducks

There is no official word yet, but the Oregonian/Oregon Live is reporting South Florida football coach Willie Taggart will take over the Oregon Football program.

The University is expected to make an official announcement later today.

Taggert led the Bulls to a 24-25 record in four seasons.  Before that he was 16-and-20 at Western Kentucky over three seasons.  At both stops, the former Stanford assistant undertook “ground-up” rebuilds and left the Hilltoppers and the Bulls better than when he began.  In his first season with South Florida, the Bulls were winless… this season they won ten games.

He will replace Mark Helfrich who was fired last week by Oregon A-D Rob Mullens.  Taggert will be the first Oregon coach in more than four decades who comes directly to the position from outside the organization.
