Hollock Looking for Title

The University of Oregon will host the NCAA Track and Field Championships this weekend.  Friday and Saturday athletes around the nation will converge on Haywood Field.  Among them will be Beaver Senior standout Kara Hollock who will be competing in the Heptathlon.  Hollock qualified at the Pac 12 Championship where she received the 2nd highest score in the schools history.  The Heptathlon mixes track and field and includes the shot put, javelin, long jump, high jump, the two hundred and 800 meter runs and the 100 meter hurdles.

History in the Making? Duck Women Could Be First Triple-Crown Winners

The Duck women will be looking to add to their titles in this weekends events.  Earlier this school year they won the Cross-Country title and then in March they won the Indoor Track and Field Championship.  They hope to make it a triple-crown win this weekend.  Two men’s programs have successfully garnered a triple-crown in the same academic year, Arkansas and Texas-El Paso, but it has never been done by a woman’s program.

Thompson Could Garner Another Win

Former Siuslaw High School Student and current starting pitcher for the Oregon State Beavers, Jake Thompson has been named a semi-finalist for the Gregg Olson Award.  An award that honors players that elevate their game to an elite level throughout the year.  Finalists will be named during this weekend’s super regionals.
