Huff Takes Second In State Wrestling Championships

Senior Siuslaw wrestler Ricky Huff faced the number one seed for the state wrestling title in the 120 pound weight class.  Huff succumbed to Crook County’s Pacer Quince in 2:53 seconds in Saturday’s match.

Freshman wrestlers Elijah Lacosse and Brady Libby also competed Lacosse lost his first round match against Quince and won his second match against Ontario’s Kyle Wulf.  Before being eliminated by Sweet Home’s Bryce Porter.

Brady Libby competed in the 106 pound weight class and lost his first match to Tillamook’s Keegan Haggerty and won his second match against North Marions’s Justin McConkey and was subsequently eliminated in the third round by Kyle White from McLoughlin.

Vikings Finish With a Win

The Viking boy’s basketball team finished their season on the road with a win Friday evening.  Siuslaw defeated South Umpqua 48-45.  Jake Hickson led with 12 points for the Vikings with Jared Brandt Scoring 10.

The Viking girls were defeated by south Umpqua 55-37.

College Hoops

In college hoops the Beavers were dropped by the USC Trojans on Saturday 72-59  while the UCLA Bruins downed the Ducks 86-78.

On The Diamond

On the baseball diamond over the weekend the Ducks went 2 and 1 in the Marucci Desert Classic in Las Vegas.  Defeating Loyolla Marymount in the opener on Friday 6-1.  Then losing to UNLV on Saturday 9-3.  And rebounding on Sunday against Indiana State 8-5.

The Beavers are in Surprise Arizona for the Sanderson Ford Baseball Classic.  Over the weekend they went 3 and 0 defeating New Mexico, Gonzaga, and Cal Poly. Ripping off 26 runs in the 3 games.  They face New Mexico again today.
