Hops Top Ems; Ducks Mix It Up

Hops Top Ems

Last night in Eugene the Hillsboro hops met with the Emeralds at PK Park.  The Hops got an early 1 run lead in the second inning but a three run homer by center fielder D.J. Artis in the bottom of the third put the Ems in the lead.  Another solo shot in the fifth by Ems Outfielder Fernando Kelli made it a 4-1 game, but a flurry of hits in the seventh by the Hops erased that lead and put Hillsboro up 5-4.  The hops added another run in the ninth for a 6-4 victory.  Game two of the three game series is this evening at 7:05 at PK Park.

Ducks Mix It Up

After a scrimmage on Sunday and a day off on Monday the Oregon Ducks returned to the practice field on Tuesday.  Coach Mario Cristobal made a decision to scramble the lineup to take a look at how different matchups might add to the playing strength of the team.  This gives the team a chance to see how deep the bench goes.  QB Justin Herbert says it is good to mix up the lineup because it shows the team that they have plenty of back up in important positions.  Herbert says he has just as much confidence in the 10th guy on the bench as he does the first guy.
