Beavers Win in OT
The Trojans of Southern Cal took the Oregon State Beavers to overtime last night in Corvallis. The Trojan’s Bennie Boatwright put up 37 points but in the end it wasn’t enough to get past the Beavers. Stephen Thompson Junior put in 34 for the Beavers with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Southern Cal was up 66-64 with the ball with a minute left when Beaver Kylor Kenny blocked a shot and Ethan Thompson layed it in on the other end to tie it for the Beavers to send it into ot. The Beavers outlasted the Trojans 79-74.
Duck Blow 17 Point Lead
The Oregon Ducks are struggling of late with their star Bol Bol out for the season. They faced the UCLA Bruins last night in Eugene. The Ducks also went to overtime but UCLA had a different outcome in mind than their fellow Californians. The Ducks blew a 17 point lead in the second half and allowed UCLA to come back and tie the game. With their momentum the bruins fought past the Ducks in overtime to take the game 87-84.
The Ducks will host USC on Sunday, at 5 o’clock, pregame on KCST is at 4:30.
The Beavers will be in Corvallis Sunday hosting the UCLA Bruins in Pac Twelve Basketball on KCFM at 6:30.
Mapleton Bested At Home
Siletz Valley bested the Mapleton Sailors last night in Mapleton. The boys were outscored 62-30 in their matchup. Nate Neece led the Sailors with 12 points. The boys had only 5 eligible players in last night’s game. The lady Sailors game was a little tighter with Siletz Valley winning 30-20. Sailor Coach Melissa Duffy said it was a great game for the girls. Senior Erin Michaels scored 7 points with “several” steals and freshman Eva Spralding had 5 blocks on the night, but early foul trouble limited her playing time only scoring 4 on the night.
On the Mat
It’s a Sky-em League Dual wrestling meet for Siuslaw this afternoon in Junction City. The Vikings will be competing against league rivals from cottage Grove, Elmira and Marshfield. Tomorrow Siuslaw will be on the mats at the Sutherlin Wrestling Classic. Competing schools include Cottage Grove, Dayton, Phoenix, Pleasant Hill, South Umpqua and hosting Sutherlin.
Prep Basketball on KCST
Sky-em League play opens tonight with Siuslaw on the hardwood hosting Cottage Grove. Tonight’s action over Coast Radio Sports begins with a pregame show from Siuslaw High School at 5:30, tip off for game one between the Vikings and Lions is at 5:45, game two is at 7:15.
Women’s Hoops
Women’s collegiate basketball this evening pits Oregon against the Trojans at USC at 8 this evening. The Oregon State women take on the Bruins at UCLA, the Oregon schools swab locations and opponents on Sunday.
