Pro Lumber to Move

After the Planning Commission approved the change of status for the property where Pro Lumber is housed, rumors began to circulate about the future of Pro Lumber.  Owner John LaRocco says the plan is to relocate the business onto the west side of highway 101 just north of Les Schwab tire in the former Woodsman nursery.  LaRocco said they were hoping to make the announcement after the sale of their current property became official, but wanted to let local shoppers know that there would be a Pro Lumber presence in Florence.  LaRocco says the timeframe for the move is the first of the year.

“It was originally the 31st of December, so we’re trying to get us a little bit of room and maybe make that the first of February by the latest.”

LaRocco says there will be a need to build a new warehouse on the new property, and move all of the inventory.  He also said that they will be streamlining some of their products at the new location.

Florence Police Arrest Fleeing Suspect

On Sunday evening the Florence Police Department responded to a request from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s department to be on the lookout for a green Ford Expedition that was involved in an assault and theft case in their area.  The vehicle was believed to be heading south on Highway 101.  Florence Police located a vehicle matching the description at approximately 7:30 in the Fred Meyer parking lot and approached the driver of the vehicle as he was attempting to get in.  The driver immediately fled in the vehicle almost hitting a FPD patrolman.  Despite demands to stop the driver sped off in the vehicle heading south on highway 101 towards Old Town where the vehicle veered onto Highway 126.  Florence Police reported that smoke and steam were coming from the evading vehicle and even parts were flying off.  The vehicle eventually came to a stop about 5.5 miles down 126.  Officers arrested 45 year old Kevin Paul Hubbard from Vancouver Washington and charged him with Elude, Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.  He could possibly face other charges from Lincoln County.  He was housed overnight at the Florence City Jail and transferred to Lane County Adult Corrections.
