Recycling Old Electronics

The holiday season often means new gifts of electronics under the tree and that may lead to throwing out old items.  Lane County wants to remind you to recycle those items.   Recycled electronics saves energy used in mining and processing of raw materials, conserves natural resources and reduces environmental degradation.  Out of every one million cell phones recycled 35,000 pounds of copper, 772 pounds of silver, 75 pounds of gold and 33 pounds of palladium can be recovered.  Lane county has set up a special webpage to help consumers understand the effects of recycling at lanecounty.org/wastefreeholidays.
