Students Named to All Tournament Team

2 Siuslaw students and 2 Mapleton students were recognized as members of the Bandon Dunes All Tournament team on Monday.  For the boys Mapleton’s JJ Neece was named to the gold bracket and Siuslaw’s Liam McClellan was named to the Black Bracket.  For the girls it was Mapleton’s Heather Wierichs in the gold bracket and Siuslaw’s Mia Collins in the Black Bracket.

Viking Basketball

Last night at Glen Butler Court the Siusaw Vikings met Taft.  The girls were up first and had a tough struggle in the first half scoring only 8 points, but came on strong in the second half coming within 4 points of Taft, but couldn’t pull out the win.  Lindsey Long and Kelsey Larson were Siuslaw’s top scorers with 8 each.  Final score 43-32

 

The Siuslaw boys hit 10 3-pointers in their effort against Taft.  Braydon Thornton had 18 points to lead the Viks and Jacob Foskett recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Brody Terry added 15.  In total 9 Vikings scored.  Viks defeated Taft 62-51.

Mapleton Hoops

Mapleton boys fell to Mohawk in a close match 38-33 and the Mapleton girls were outgunned 55-18.

Prep wrestling this evening has the Viks on the mats taking on the Bull Dogs in Florence.  Action between Siuslaw and Sutherlin gets under way at 6 o’clock.
