Get Signed Up for Vaccines

The number of available vaccines is severely limited in Oregon as it is in many other states across the nation.  City Manager Erin Reynolds says that it is important to make sure that those who want the vaccine fill out the form that has been generated by Lane County Public Health.  She says there are not currently any vaccine clinics to participate in, but being on the list will help to make sure individuals are contacted.

201: “and then that way the county and all the partners that will be doing vaccination clinics and appointments will have your information and a way they can contact you when the vaccine is available.”

Reynolds says she understands the frustration and concern about the supply. She believes that in the coming weeks there will be more availability.  There is also the hope that other vaccines on the horizon will be approved and that will mean a greater number of vaccine doses in the supply chain.

One More COVID Case for Florence

152 is the new number of COVID-19 cases for the Florence area as the day saw one new case added to the Lane County list.  Lane County only saw 30 new cases yesterday and 305 cases statewide.  Unfortunately the numbers are not yet low enough to move the county into a High level of alert.  On his facebook page County Commissioner Jay Bozevich said Lane County was only 27 cases away from moving to a lower risk and allowing for restaurants to reopen.  One of the hotspots, according to Bozevich’s post is the University of Oregon which reported 259 cases in the past two weeks.  Many local restaurants are suffering financially from the pandemic and are hoping that restrictions can be lifted soon.

Job Fair

Three Rivers Casino Resort is looking to the future as the hope grows that special events will be able to return soon.  They are having a hiring event for their food and beverage department on Friday and are looking for qualified individuals 18 and older.  To encourage individuals to apply they will give everyone who fills out an application a $15.00 gift card for one of their food outlets.  They ask that you do provide a resume at the event.

ODOT To Start 126 Work

The Oregon Department of Transportation is informing the public that beginning in April they will begin construction on Highway 126 at Milepost 36.  They will be installing concrete barriers and increasing the shoulder width by 4 feet on each side.  They will also be conducting tree cutting along the area over the next week.  ODOT is currently working on rebuilding 102 street corners in Florence from 10th street to Munsel Lake Road.
