Manhunt Under Way For Murder Suspect

Earlier today police in North Bend reported a shooting at the Mill Casino in North bend that resulted in one person deceased and one person rushed to Bay Area Hospital.  The suspect then went to Herbal Choices a local Cannibas shop where another person was shot and killed.  During this time the North Bend School went on a soft lock down which was preparing for a basketball game versus the Siuslaw.  Conflicting reports had the suspect being apprehended, but the North bend Police were not able to confirm that.  The suspect and the vehicle, a late model dodge eluded police and headed up Highway 101 north and passed through Florence and Mapleton heading towards Eugene.  the Lane County sheriff’s department and Oregon State Police were in pursuit of the vehicle.  North Bend Police during a press briefing confirmed the location of the vehicle.  According to Paul Frasier the elected district attorney for coos county.

“My understanding is that Lane County authorities have activated their various special response type teams and they are now in the process of doing a manhunt in the area the vehicle was located.”

The vehicle ran off the road on 126 at milepost 38.  The suspect left the vehicle and apparently set the vehicle on fire.  He fled into the woods and was seen holding a hand gun.  OPS has closed the road and a manhunt was underway at last account.
