Dispute Ends with Suicide

A family dispute ended up in an apparent suicide in Mapleton on Saturday.  The Lane County Sheriffs Office responded to the report of a domestic dispute involving a firearm just before 8:30 Saturday evening in the 87000 block of Rice Road.  A caller stated that 28 year old Jazmine Thein used a firearm to shoot at her brother.  The brother was able to make an escape and go to a neighbors house.  Upon arrival sheriff’s deputies confirmed that Thein was still inside the residence.  Deputies tried for several hours to de-escalate the situation.  shortly after 6am Sunday morning deputies found her deceased in a bedroom from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot.  No shots were fired by deputies during the standoff.

OPB to Take Advantage of $15 Million Dollar From Private Placement

Oregon Pacific Bank is positioning itself for future growth as it announces a private placement of 15 million dollars from Oregon Pacific Bancorp the holding company for OPB.  President and CEO Ron Green says the placement acts as a low interest loan that will allow the bank to put more money into the communities they serve.  Green says it should create long-term value for clients and shareholders alike

“The 15 million dollars of equity would allow the bank to grow 150 million dollars in loans.”

Green says theoretically the bank could see a 10-1 ratio of return that would more than cover the $15 million and any interest over the term of the loan.  Which is 10 years.  Even at a 3.375 % per annum interest rate after tax deductions Green says it would be about a 2.25 to 2.5% cost for the money.
