Viking Basketball

The Siuslaw Viking basketball teams participated in a tournament in Creswell over the weekend.  The lady viks met first with Sutherlin falling 47-9.  Cate Waggoner led rebounders with 4.  Next up for the Viks was Monroe.  The Viks held Monroe to 39 points, scoring 12.  Coach Aaron McNeill said it was a vast improvement since they recently lost to Monroe 56-19.  He says the team continues to show improvement as they begin to play more often together.

On Friday the Viking boys defeated Sutherlin 61-27 and had to faced the unbeaten Creswell Bulldogs.  The Vikings led at the half 30-28 but eventually lost 64-58.  The boys are 4-2 on the season and will face Pleasant Hill tomorrow evening at home.

Viking Wrestling

Viking grapplers were on the mat this past weekend for the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff.  The ladies finished 4th overall with second place finishes by freshman Macali Lade in the 110 pound division, senior Bailey Overton in the 120 weight class and senior Hayden Muller in the 140 pound division.

For the boys, Mason Buss and Dayne Muller both won second place  honors in the 170 and 195 weight classes respectively.

Beavers Football

The OSU Beavers were outgunned in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl on Saturday falling to Utah State 24-13.

 

In College Hoops

The Beavers lost to Texas A&M 83-73, #1 Baylor defeated the Ducks 78-70.    The Duck Women lost 68-56 against Kansas State and the Beaver women won two straight defeating Idaho on Friday 79-49 and Northern Iowa 70-59 last night in Hawaii.
