Siulsaw Hires Softball Coach

Siuslaw High School has hired a new softball coach.  Jason Lipe has accepted the position of Varsity Head Coach according to information released by Siuslaw High School Athletic Director, Chris Johnson.  Lipe has been teaching at Siuslaw High School for the past 2 years, holds a masters degree and has 14 years experience in teaching science and biology.  Lipe has two years of coaching experience and has played baseball at the college level.

Mask to Remain on Inside

The Sky-Em League has issued a letter signed by participating schools that states in order to continue with sporting activities and spectator seating they are requiring that spectators wear proper-fitting masks when attending events.  There will be no food or beverage allowed in the Glen Butler Court and masks must be worn at all times.  The letter states that the health and safety of the student athlete is the top priority, followed by the desire to see spectators in the seats during competitions.

Sailors Win

The Mapleton Sailors basketball teams were on the court last night against McKenzie.  The Girls were up first freshman Morgan Milbrett led the Sailors with 16 and senior Jahala Blake had 10 in the sailors 48-22 victory.

The Sailor Boys also defeated McKenzie 50-28 with sophomore Keevyn Walkder leading the charge with 20 points followed by senior Joe Shepard with 9.  The sailors improve to 2-2 in league play.  The sailor girls are 2-4 in league competition.

Vikings at Marist

The Siuslaw Vikings will travel to Marist this evening.  Varsity boys will be on the court beginning at 5:45 with a 5:30 pregame on KCST.  The Viking Girls will take the late spot beginning at 7:15.

Wrestling

Tomorrow is the Nick Lutz memorial wrestling tournament.  It will be held without spectators due to osaa guidelines and the number of participants involved.   You can live stream the event with a subscription to the NFHS network.

College Basketball

Last night in Los Angeles the Oregon Ducks upset the #3 UCLA Bruins 84-81 led by senior guard Jacob Young with 23 points.  6 Ducks were in double figures.  They face #5 USC tomorrow beginning at 7:30 on KCST.

The OSU Beavers suffered a loss last night to USC 81-71  the Beavers led at halftime 42-37, but failed to keep pace with the Trojans in the second half being outscored 44-29.  The Beavers take on UCLA tomorrow beginning at 7pm on KCFM.
