Athlete of the Week: Hayden Muller
The Sports Club the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Lady Viking wrestler Hayden Muller as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Hayden dominated the 135 pound weight class in Saturday’s OSAA Special District 2 tournament. She defeated opponents from Sweet Home and Cascade Christian before winning a major decision over Grants Pass’ Morgan Edwards giving her a first place finish.
Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton Senior Joe Shepard. Joe scored 22 points in the Sailors 50-45 victory over Crow last week including 9 for 11 from the free throw line leading the Sailors to a come from behind win.
Mapleton Basketball
Mapleton Boys Basketball will be on the court this evening against McKenzie beginning at 7 pm. The Sailor Girls games have been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols for tonight and tomorrow.
Viking Basketball
The Viking Ladies will be on the court tonight too at home against Marshfield with a 5:30 pregame on KCST.
