Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Vikings ended their season in Tillamook on Friday.  The Cheesemakers slipped past the Vikings scoring 2 runs in the 5th on a bases loaded single.  The Vikings had a chance to comeback in the 6th but fell a run short of extending the game.  The Vikings came from behind after being down 5-0 scoring 1 run in the third and then breaking out in the 4th with a 5 run inning.  Final Score 8-7 Tillamook.  The Vikings finish their season 10-16 overall.

Track and Field

     Siuslaw

Junior Hunter Petterson finished third in the state in the 200 meters setting a personal record time in the process at 22.8.  he finished up 4th in the 400 meters.  Junior Sam Ulrich finished third in the state in the 800 meters setting a personal record of 1:57.85.  he also set a personal record in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:53.12 and a third place finish.  Senior Chad Hughes finished 5th in the 3000 and 7th in the 1500.  Junior Noel Hernandez finished 5th in the 300 meter hurdles.  Junior Jonathan Rose finished 5th in the discus with a toss of 136’-11”  in the Pole Vault junior Kyle Hughes finished in 5th place at 13’-6” followed by teammate senior Camp Lacouture at 13 even.  For the ladies it was a 10th place finish in the 1500 meters for senior Rylee Colton.  Colton also finished 7th in the 3000.

    Mapleton

It was a 6.25 inch differential that separated Mapleton senior Joe Shepard from the State Championship in the Triple-Jump.  Shepard set a personal record as well as breaking a Maplton High School Record with a second place jump of 43’1”

Pac-12 Tournament

The first ever Pac-12 tournament in baseball begins on Wednesday.  The Oregon State Beavers will face Washington in game on from Scottsdale, Arizona.  It will be a 4:45 first pitch with coverage beginning on KCFM at 4:15.  The Beavers dropped two of three against the Bruins of UCLA taking the final game of the series 9-3 on Saturday.  The Oregon Ducks will get another shot at the Arizona Wildcats after demolishing the cats in a three game series over the weekend.  The Ducks Swept the Wildcats 10-4, 4-3 5-3.
