Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Kyle Hughes as this week’s Athlete of the week. The senior distance standout led the Vikings Boys to victory at the 3A Boys Distrct 4 Championships with an individual championship, finishing with a season record time of 16:56.5 seconds.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Siuslaw Volleyball middle blocker Rhianna Lane who had 12 kills and 7 blocks to aid the Vikings to a 3-1 victory over Vale in the opening round of the OSAA 3A playoffs. Lane then added 21 kills and 11 blocks in the Viks 2nd round win over Pleasant Hill.
Viking / Viking Matchup
The Siuslaw Vikings will jump time zones for their Saturday matchup with Vale High School. The game will have a 1 pm mountain time start, that mean an 11:45 time for Florence to include the pregame show. The airing of the game will conflict with the Oregon Duck, Colorado Buffalo game and therefore the Duck game will be broadcast on KCFM 104.1 and 103.1 Mapleton. The pregame start for that game will be 11am.
The Oregon State Beavers play on Friday night this week in Seattle against the Washington Huskies
