Viking Wrestling
The Siuslaw Vikings competed in the Perry Burlison Invitational on Saturday at Cascade High School. Mason Buss took the top spot in the 195 pound category going undefeated. Buss had to compete with fellow Viking Dayne Muller for the Championship spot and won by decision. Muller took the second place spot. Yoskar Delamora was 3-2 on the day placing 5th in the 132 pound category. Hunter Petterson also placed 5th in the 138 pound range. Joel Sissel placed 4th in the 182 weight class and Cort Waggoner placed 4th in the 220 pound class. (UPDATE -Coach Neil Wartnik says Cort finished tied for Third – results were posted incorrectly)
For the girls Macali Lade placed second in the 110 pound class Rosa Mendez was 4th in the 130, Danin Lacouture placed 4th in the 140.
College Hoops
Oregon State Beavers faced a tough USC team last night in LA. The Trojans knocked off the beavers 63-62. Dexter Akanno led the beavers with 17.
The Oregon Ducks were also in LA last night to face the UCLA Bruins. The Ducks traded the lead 6 times with the Bruins but in the end couldn’t finish in the lead with a 65-56 loss. Quincy Guerrier led the Ducks with 15.
On Saturday the Duck women defeated Portland 90-51 and the OSU women were defeated by Jackson State 63-53.
College Bowl Games
Bowl appointments went out over the weekend with the Ducks Garnering the Holiday Bowl and will face the Tarheels of North Carolina. That game will take place on Wednesday the 28th of December.
The Beavers will take on the Florida Gators in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday December 17th. both bowl games will air on Coast Radio. The Ducks will be on KCST and the Beavers will be on KCFM.
