OPB Reports Targeted Fraud Against Customers

The President and CEO of Oregon Pacific Bank says that opb is currently aware of a targeted attack against its customers primarily in the Florence area.  Ron Green says it started as just a few but has grown to about 25 individuals.

“these fraudsters are claiming that there are fraudulent charges from big box retailers like Target, asking very convincing question ‘well have you traveled recently and we’ve got these fraudulent charges we want to go in and take care of for you. ‘ This is a targeted fraud”

He says the scammers are using technology that make is seem like they are actually calling from a bank extension and claiming to be from the OPB Fraud Department.  Green says two things individuals should be aware of is that there is not bank fraud division at OPB and that the bank would never solicit your personal information from you that they already have on file.

“Monies have been transferred out through our person to person payment systems that we have built in to our online banking and we have immediately ceased the functionality of that.”

Green says if you get one of these calls hang up immediately and contact the authorities, but he would also like you to contact OPB directly so that they can know about and track it.
