Sutton Lake Boat Ramp

The Forest Service has begun the process to update and improve the public boat launch at Sutton Lake.  Right now they are seeking comments on the proposal that involves removing the existing ramp and dock.  A new concrete ramp with a trench drain and catch-basin system at the top would be supplemented with a new concrete abutment leading to aluminum boarding docks.  The new docks would also accommodate “Americans with disabilities act” requirements.  Sutton Lake is 5 ½ miles north of Florence on the east side of Highway 101.  Comment must be received by February 17th.  The link to the project details:

Student Vaccinations

All students attending public school in Oregon are required to have been vaccinated against a number of childhood diseases such as measles, mumps, or rubella.  If not, parents or guardians are at risk of having their child excluded from the classroom if proof of that vaccination is not submitted by February 15th.  Compared to last year at this time about 30% fewer students are on the exclusion list according to Lane County Chief Health Officer Patrick Ludtke.  But, he says, the 1,650 students out of more than 50-thousand this year in Lane County highlights areas for improvement.  Ludkte says recent trends show fewer children are being taken to 12 to 18 month “well child” checks where they would normally get those vaccines.  Lane County Public Health is offering two vaccination clinics in Eugene February 14th and 15th at their headquarters on 7th Avenue.  Families in Western Lane County needing vaccinations can get them from their private health care provider or at a participating pharmacy.

Listening Session For Transit

The Lane Council of Governments would like to get feedback from rural residents as it pertains to transit service options into the Eugene/Springfield area.  The session will be on a zoom conference type call on February 8th from noon until 1pm.  Feedback will help to improve service and identify the needs in the community.
