Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate sophomore Siuslaw Basketball player Michael Felkins as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Michael averaged 13 points and made All-Tournament team at last week’s Bandon Invitational helping the team to score a win in the tournament.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to Viking girl’s junior basketball player Macy McNeil. Macy was named to the All-Tournament at the Bandon Invitational scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and garnering 4 steals.
Ducks Win Fiesta Bowl
The Oregon Ducks may have revealed a chink in the FBS bowl selection as they devoured the Liberty Flames in yesterday’s Fiesta Bowl in the desert. QB Bo Nix threw for 5 TD passes in the win and Bucky Irving capped off the scoring with a one yard run in the 4th quarter. Bo Nix left the game in the 4th quarter after securing a couple of records including the most touchdown passes by a UO quarterback in a bowl game and a national season completion rate of 77.45%.He also broke former Duck and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota’s passing and touchdown record with 4,508 yards and 45 touchdowns. Final Fiesta Bowl score 45-6.
