Viking Victory

The Siuslaw Vikings boy’s basketball start league play 1-0 after a tough back and forth battle last night against Elmira. Andrew Jensen Norman scored 23 followed by 13 from Landen Curley in the 72-68 victory. Coach Dylan Perry said the team held out down the stretch and mustered enough “plus” to stay ahead of the Falcons.

The Viking girls also face Elmira.  The Vikings are still looking for their first win of the season falling to the Falcons 57-18.

Next up for the Vikings is Harrisburg on Tuesday the 9th.

Mapleton Improves to 9-2

The Siletz Valley Warriors didn’t see the ship that blew them out of the water last night.  The Mapleton Sailors devoured the Warriors 71-21 to improve to 9-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play. Junior point guard Alex Burnett led the sailors with 17 points.  9 of those points came off three pointers. Senior Dom Stewart had a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Senior Keevyn Walker also had 14 points.  The sailors host Eddyville Charter this evening.

Mapleton Girls Get League Win

The Mapleton Girls basketball also won their game against Siletz 41-16 improving to 5-6 and are 1-0 in league play.  They will play tonight also against Eddyville Charter

College Hoops

The Oregon Ducks are in Seattle tonight to face the Huskies in college hoops.  Game time on KCST is 6:30. Oregon State takes on the Cougars in Pullman with a game time on KCFM at 7:30.

Wrestling

Viking Wrestlers will be on the mat today at the Yamhill-Carlton Duals.
