Micah Blankenship intercepted a Sutherlin pass at the goal line midway through the first quarter Friday night. That set up a brief drive that ended in a 49 yard touchdown pass from Blankenship to tight end Ryan Klampe to give the Vikings an early 6-nothing lead over the bulldogs. Siuslaw led 30-0 at the half and didn’t look back. Sutherlin did manage to score twice in the final half but the outcome was never in question. Michael Felkins caught two TD passes, the first for 19 yards, the second for 17 yards.
The win kept Siuslaw #1 in the OSAA rankings and undefeated on the season with six wins. The Viks make the drive to Curry County Friday night where they’ll face the 2-5 Brookings-Harbor Bruins.

Viking Soccer will take the field today at home against La Pine. This is the final regular season game for the Vikings.  La Pine is winless in league play with a 0-7-1 record.  The Lady Vikings have two games left with on tomorrow against Santiam Christian at home.

Viking Volleyball will host glide tomorrow at 6pm. Mapleton Volleyball will be on the road tomorrow against Eddyville charter

Several Viking runners competed in the Cottage Grove Bramble Scramble on Saturday.  Siuslaw’s top finisher was Camden Linton in the 30th spot.

Ducks Atop AP Poll

The Oregon Ducks sit atop the AP poll as the number one team in College football. The University of Texas fell to Georgia over the weekend while the Ducks handily defeated Purdue propelling them to a 7-0 record.  It is the first time since 2012 that the Ducks have sat atop the AP 25.

Beavers Drop Second in a Row

The Oregon State Beavers had a one point lead at halftime,17 points from UNLV in the second half on Saturday dampened the day for the Beavers.  The Beavers scored late in the 4th quarter but could not overcome the running rebels lead falling 33-25.
