Viking Basketball
Siuslaw Girls Basketball falls to 1-7 on the season in a tough loss to North Bend at home last night the Bulldogs scored 42 to the Vikings 13. For the Viking Boys it was also a tough battle falling to the Bulldogs 50-63. Gave DeKeon led the Vikings with 16, Michael Felkins scored 12 and Chaz Edbloom had 10 points.
Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Viking wrestler Macali Lade as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Macali dominated the 115 pound weight class in last weekend’s Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno that saw 75 teams from across the region. Coach Neil Wartnik says Macali’s 7-0 final round was an exhibition of outstanding Fundamental Wrestling.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to another outstanding performance by junior wrestler Danin Lacouture who finished 3rd in the 140 pound weight class.
