Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior wrestler Gage Mills as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Gage collected his first tournament title ever in the 190 pound weight class. Coach Neil Wartnik said Gage’s championship Saturday is a testament to his perseverance, determination and coachability.
Honorable mention goes to Mapleton Sailor Alex Burnett who drained 20 points in Saturday’s game against Alsea including 8 4th quarter point to help propel the Sailors to a 52-32 victory.
Sailor Girls Basketball
The Mapleton Sailor girls were on the court last night against North Douglas Warriors. The Warriors handed the Sailors their first league loss of the season overcoming the Sailors 43-31
Viking Home Game
Tonight the Siuslaw Vikings will be at home against the Douglas Trojans the boys will be up first at 5:30 with a 5:15 pregame.
Viking Boy’s Wrestling
The Viking Boy’s wrestling team will participate in an afternoon of Special District 2 Duals at Harrisburg. Competition begins at 3 pm.
