The Eugene Emeralds shut out the Tri-City Dust Devils 4-0 for their sixth shutout win of the season. With four straight series victories, the Ems improve to 18-5 in the second half and hold a 4.5-game lead in the standings. Drew Cavanaugh drove in the game’s first run with a 103-mph double, his 16th RBI in just 15 games. Charlie Szykowny extended his hitting streak to 13 games, tying the team high. Starter Shane Rademacher tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, and the bullpen held strong to secure the win. The Ems now travel to Vancouver after Monday’s off day.

OSU Basketball

The Oregon State men’s basketball team has earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for the third consecutive year. Announced Thursday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the award honors programs with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2024-25 academic year. The Beavers achieved the mark under the continued guidance of assistant head academic counselor Abby Crowell. The NABC presents the academic honors annually to college basketball teams across all divisions.

Johnson Named Oregon Coach of the Year: Track and Field

Siuslaw’s Chris Johnson has been named Oregon’s Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Johnson led the Vikings to the 2025 3A state title, clinched in dramatic fashion with a win in the final relay event. This marks his fourth boys state title and adds to a career that includes 16 cross country championships. Johnson was also a top-five finalist for National Coach of the Year. The honor adds to his long legacy as one of Oregon’s most decorated high school coaches.
