Viking Sports
It’s a big week for the Siuslaw Vikings as fall activities began yesterday. Band, choir, and all fall sports are now underway. Friday night brings the Siuslaw Hall of Fame induction in the main gym, followed Saturday by the volleyball team’s Blue-Gold Game at noon and the Athletic Booster Club’s annual auction and dinner at Three Rivers Casino. The booster club will also elect new officers. Several Viking alumni are also preparing for college competition, including football standouts Henry Rankin at Southern Oregon and Cort Waggoner at Linfield, along with Clayton Wilson in cross country at Colorado Mesa University.
Ems Home Stand Tonight
The Eugene Emeralds open a pivotal six-game series against the Hillsboro Hops tonight at PK Park, first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. The Ems are riding high—having already secured eight consecutive series wins—and boast the best second‑half record in the Northwest League at 35‑13, putting them a commanding 9 games ahead of Vancouver and 10 ahead of Tri‑City. Their dominant form has them well-positioned in the division. As they shift focus to Hillsboro, fans are eager to see if the Emeralds can extend their run and further solidify their lead.
