TLT Revenue in Jeopardy

A pair of bills moving through the Oregon Legislature could significantly impact tourism funding for communities like Florence. House Bill 4134 has been referred to the House floor for a vote, while House Bill 4148 is scheduled for a hearing this afternoon. Together, the measures would change how Transient Lodging Tax revenue is used, potentially allowing funds to be redirected away from tourism promotion and economic development. Local leaders warn Florence could lose up to 60% of its annual TLT revenue that supports marketing and visitor services. Residents with comments or concerns are encouraged to contact their state representatives.

Parks Hiring for Summer Rangers

Oregon State Parks is now hiring seasonal Park Rangers and Park Ranger Assistants for the 2026 season, with positions available across the state. Hiring begins this month and continues through June, with most jobs running from April through September. Starting pay is 20.28 an hour for seasonal assistants and 23.79 an hour for seasonal rangers, with medical, vision and dental benefits included. Student workers age 16 and older can also apply. Officials say seasonal employees play a key role in maintaining safe, clean parks while helping visitors enjoy Oregon’s coastal, valley and mountain destinations.

New Grants For Oregon Tribes

The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw are among the Nine Federally Recognized Tribes of Oregon set to benefit from a new state housing program. Governor Tina Kotek has announced the launch of the Tribal Housing Grant Fund, a first-of-its-kind effort allocating 10 million dollars to support Tribal housing needs. The program allows Tribes flexibility to address homelessness, develop affordable rental housing, support homeownership, and invest in infrastructure. Funds will be distributed through a formula based in part on Tribal enrollment, with each Tribe required to submit a housing plan outlining how the money will be used.
