Eagles Out PLay Vikings

The Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday night with a 72-53 loss to Santiam Christian in the first round of the OSAA 3A State Championships at Adair Village. Siuslaw trailed 36-30 at halftime before the Eagles pulled away in the second half. The Vikings finish the season 17-10, marking their second straight 17-win season. Santiam Christian advances to face Cascade Christian on Friday in Medford.

Sailor Girls Host St. Paul

The Mapleton Lady Sailors open the first round of the OSAA 1A Girls Basketball State Playoffs Wednesday night, hosting St. Paul. Mapleton is the No. 16 seed in the 32-team bracket, while the Buckaroos are No. 17. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., with Bob Sneddon on the call on KCST beginning at 5:45. Mapleton enters at 18-5 as Mountain West League champion. St. Paul is 17-10 and finished second in the Casco League.

College Hoops

The Oregon Ducks are also on the court this evening against Wisconsin.  KCST will join the game live following the Mapleton game. The Oregon State Beavers will host San Diego on KCFM beginning at 6:45. The Lady ducks and Beavers will play tomorrow.

Wrestling Championships

Six Siuslaw Vikings head to Portland Thursday for the OSAA Wrestling State Championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. On the girls side, Molly Mills at 125 pounds and Danin Lacouture at 140 take the mat, with Lacouture entering as the No. 2 seed. For the boys, Ali Ijaz at 157, Aris Lade at 175, Gage Mills at 190 and Jacob Mann at 215 compete in 4A action. Mann has a first-round bye. Wrestling runs from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday.
