Fire Concerns
The Oregon Department of Emergency Management is urging residents to prepare now for what could be one of the driest wildfire seasons in more than a decade. Officials say counties across the state are already declaring drought emergencies, raising concerns about dangerous fire conditions. OEM recommends residents pack emergency go-bags, plan evacuation routes, sign up for alerts at ORAlert.gov, and understand Oregon’s three evacuation levels: “Be Ready, Be Set, and Go Now.” Officials also encourage families to prepare backup communication plans in case cell service is disrupted during a wildfire. More preparedness information is available at wildfire.oregon.gov.
