OSAA 4A Wrestling Finals underway

High school wrestlers from all over the state are on the mats today and tomorrow at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum for the OSAA championships. Siuslaw Coach Neil Wartnik has a trio of matmen there. He says this is what the season is all about.

Neil Wartnik – “You know you get a sport like wrestling or cross county or track and everything you do is in preparation to try to qualify for the final event. We have three boys who qualified, they’ve done a great job. In fact the team has done a great job, we finished well.”

Jose DelaMora will compete at 120 pounds; Kainan Lane at 220; and Dylan Jennings at 285.

As of earlier this afternoon, all three Viking wrestlers had lost their first matches.   They’ll continue through the consolation brackets this afternoon and evening.
