7th ranked Beavers scored early and often

Seventh ranked Oregon State jumped to an early lead last night in Pullman on the way to a 12-3 win over Washington State.  It was the first of a three-game Pac-12 baseball series.  The Beavers led 9-nothing after two innings, thanks in part to a pair of first inning doubles by Jack Anderson and Kyle Nobach.

Siuslaw’s Jake Thompson takes the mound this afternoon for the Beavers.  That’s set for four o’clock with airtime on KCFM at 3:30.  The series closes out tomorrow in Pullman with the final game at noon.  The pregame show on KCFM is at 11:30.

Oregon will host USC this weekend for three conference games… the first one this evening at six; then tomorrow at two before closing out Sunday at noon.

Prep track and field

The Mapleton Sailors competed against several 3-A West Valley Teams yesterday in Lincoln City at Taft High School.  Hunter Simington was second in the pole vault; Tanner Wilson third in the javelin.

On the track today, several Siuslaw athletes will be at the Philomath “Up and Comer” JV meet.  The top athletes will be competing though at the Oregon Relays, today and tomorrow at Hayward Field in Eugene.

On the diamond…

Siuslaw Baseball is scheduled to be in Winston this afternoon for two games against the Douglas Trojans.  The first pitch is at three and both games will air on KCST beginning at 2:45.   Viking Softball will also face the Trojans for two games today… they’ll meet in Florence.  By the way, Siuslaw and Brookings will make up a game originally scheduled earlier this week tomorrow afternoon at one on the softball diamond at Siuslaw High School.
