Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Viking quarterback Elijah Blankenship. Elijah led the Vikings to a comeback win on Friday night against Philomath with 318 yards passing and 129 yards rushing while connecting on two touchdown passes in the second half.
Honorable mention goes to freshman Viking Cross Country runner Samuel Ulrich whose personal record time of 17:17.1 in the 5000 meters at Saturday’s Northwest Classic helped Siuslaw move into first place.
Mapleton Volleyball
The Sailor Girls are on the court tonight for Mountain West League Volleyball against the Eagles. First match at Mapleton High School against McKenzie is at 6 o’clock this evening.
