Graduation Paradigm Change

To say the least, graduation will look a little different this year.  The Plans are to use the NFHS camera feed on Hans Peterson field to broadcast the processional and the handing out of diplomas and that broadcast will be supported by a live broadcast from Coast Radio on 106.9 KCST.  Siuslaw School Board Member and voice of the Vikings on KCST, Bob Sneddon along with Siuslaw School Counselor Steve Moser will host the live broadcast.  The live streaming will begin at 5:55 and the radio broadcast will begin at 5:30.  Those wishing to watch the stream can go to a special link at livestream.com/Siuslaw/graduation2020.  Also as part of the senior recognition, the Florence Kiwanis Club has purchased signs with the names of each graduating senior and they will be placed over this weekend between 8th street and the bridge on Highway 101 on both the east and west side of the road.

Rhododendron Drive Work

Work is still continuing on Rhododendron Drive between South Harbor Drive and Treewood Court.  The temporary lane closures are expected to be completed by today.  Traffic has been limited to one way with portions of the south bound section of the road closed as a new sewer line and cleanouts are installed.  The 86 thousand dollar project will provide sewer service to existing home that either have failing septic systems or prefer to receive municipal sewer service.  If construction is not concluded today, updates will be provided on Monday.

Tree Removal Continues

There is still some ongoing tree removal and cutback happening on Highway 126.  Crews were out as late as yesterday taking down overhanging limbs and even removing full trees and brush from the side of the roadway.  Traffic is limited to one lane in that area just east of the bridge with flaggers in place for traffic control.
