Football Moving Ahead; Lady Ducks Fall to Cardinal

Football Moving Ahead

Siuslaw Football is progressing as the school works on finishing up the requirements set forth by Lane County Public Health and the Oregon Health Authority in order to play 11 0n 11 full contact.  Siuslaw High school athletic Director Chris Johnson says that if all goes well today the team could don their helmets tomorrow and if that happens they should be able to have the appropriate number of practices in full safety equipment to participate in a jamboree.  Johnson says it is pretty hard to believe how far things have come in just a week when the school was hoping to have any kind of football.  Siuslaw is scheduled to have a 5 game season beginning on March 5th at LaPine.

Lady Ducks Fall to Cardinal

The Oregon Duck Women are now 12-5 on the season and 9-5 in Pac-12 conference play after the #6 Stanford Cardinal defeated the Ducks 63-61 last night in Eugene.  at one point Oregon was down by double digits and managed to regain the lead in the final two minutes of play but Stanford scored the final 5 points of the game to come back and secure the win.  Head Duck Coach Kelly Graves said it was a disappointment as the team played well enough to win, but didn’t.  Taylor Mikesell led the Ducks in scoring with 13.
