Different Look For Viking’s First Game

It may not be a big deal to some Viking fans, but Coach Sam Johnson wanted to let football fans know that things might look a little different for tonight’s game against the Newport Cubs.

“Kind of a warning to some Viking fans, we wont be in our usual sunflower gold helmet.  They are being finished right now in Mexico, being shipped up to us and they arrive Saturday.”

Johnson says they will be sporting a “Vegas” gold helmet until the second week of the season.  Tonight’s game against the Cubs will be broadcast on KCST beginning with a 6:45 pregame.

Soccer Ties

Viking soccer was on the road in Junction City last night.  In the past the Viks have had a tough time against the Tigers, but this time managed to give them a run for their money.  Siuslaw dominated the first half of the game keeping the ball on JC’s side of the field for most of the half.  Camden Linton scored the lone goal for the Viks.  On defense the Vikings were able to stop most of JC’s breakaways and limit their shots on goal.  The Tigers scored in the second half on a scramble at the Vikings goal.  Coach Londi Tomaro says the team, as a whole is coming together and has a good sense of comradry.

Siuslaw Volleyball Wins in Straight Sets

The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team scored another win last night against Sutherlin.  The Vikings won in straight sets.  The number 2 ranked Vikings will host Harrisburg at home next Friday.

Ems Drop to AquaSox

The Eugene emeralds maintain their slim 1 game lead in the northwest league despite a 6-4 loss to the Everett Aquasox last night.  The Ems tried for a comeback down 6-2 in the bottom of the ninth scoring two but coming up short.
