Cross Country
This Saturday the Siuslaw Vikings will compete for the State Cross Country Championships. The OSAA sanctioned event will be at Lane Community College in Eugene. 14 Siuslaw athletes qualified for the state championship. Senior Kyle Hughes was the top time in last week’s district championship for the boys and freshman Alison Hughes posted the top time for the girls. The girls race at 10 am Saturday followed by the boys at 11:15.
Volleyball
Friday night the Viking girls will take on the Creswell Bulldogs in quarterfinal volleyball action. The Bulldogs are 18-6 overall and 9-3 in league play. They’ve dominated the Vikings this year with three wins but the Vikings have showed their heart defeating pleasant hill after losing to them twice during the season. Friday’s match will take place in Creswell at 3:15.
Vikings Clash with Vikings
It will be a Viking clash on Saturday as the Siuslaw Vikings meet the Vale Vikings. The teams are pretty evenly matched as far as the won loss numbers. Siuslaw has the edge in points scored for the season 301-242, but Vale has two less games to consider. Siuslaw is averaging 19 points allowed by opponents while Vale allowed an average of 21. Pregame time on KCST is 11;45 Saturday.
