Viking Wrestling

The Siuslaw Viking wrestlers showed up for the King of the Hill tournament in Pleasant Hill.  4 boys scored first place finishes in the event. Freshman Jacob Mann in the 182 pound class pinned two opponents until defeating the top seeded Paul Clark from Lowell 12-8 in the finals.  Joel Sissel, Mason Buss and Dayne Muller also claimed titles in their respective weight classes.

Viking girls had a great day as well with Macali Lade taking the top spot in the 110 pound weight class.  In the 115 pound division Abby Riggs finished second.  Danin Lacouture finished first in the 135 pound division. Meika Shappell finished first in the 145 division. And in the 155 pound weight class Jane Lacouture finished on top.

The team will head to La Pine on Wednesday to compete against the reigning 3A champions.  The Vikings will then host 27 teams on Saturday for the Nick Lutz Memorial tournament.

Viking Basketball

The Viking basketball teams traveled to Sisters on Friday the boys were defeated 43-29. the Viking girls lost 41-9.  the teams host Harrisburg tomorrow evening starting with the boys game at 6pm with a 5:45 pregame on KCST.

Mapleton Basketball

Mapleton Basketball will be at Alsea tomorrow beginning at 5:30.

College Hoops

The Oregon Ducks bounced back from their loss against Colorado to defeat the Utah Utes on Saturday 70-60. Dante N’Faly led the Ducks with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  The Ducks also had help off the bench with two Ducks in double figures.  Will Richardson also scored 11.

The Oregon State Beavers lost to Colorado on Saturday 62-42.  The Oregon teams will  host the Arizona teams beginning on Thursday.  The Beavers will take on Arizona and the Ducks will meet Arizona State.
