Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate freshman Viking wrestler Jacob Mann as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Jacob wrestled for the top spot in the 182 pound weight class pinning his first two opponents and then beating the top seeded Paul Clark from Lowell 12-8 in the finals.
Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton Basketball senior Tristan Stewart who had a double-double in Thursday’s win over Siletz Valley scoring 14 points and bringing down 15 rebounds in the Sailor’s 38-34 win.
Viking Basketball/Wrestling
The Siuslaw Vikings will be on the court this evening with the boys team up first at 6pm with a 5:45 pregame on KCST. The girls will follow at about 7:30. Tomorrow the Viking wrestlers will be in La Pine with matches beginning at 4pm.
Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton Sailors will visit Alsea this evening for basketball. Sailor boys will start at 5:30 followed by the girls at 7.
